Paralympian Susie Rodgers is a Director of Spirit of 2012. She is also the Chair of our Spirit of Achievement Panel and was recently recognised in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours list, receiving an MBE for services to her sport. The award rounded off a very successful year for Susie, who won three medals at the Rio 2016 Paralympics, including gold in the women’s 50 metres butterfly.

Spirit of 2012 is a proud supporter of DanceSyndrome. Formed by dancer Jen Blackwell, who has Down's Syndrome, they provide creative and fun learning opportunities for anyone who wants to improve their physical health and personal wellbeing. Spirit have recently awarded funding to enable their continued provision of inclusive dance workshops and leadership training.

Spirit of 2012 is looking for two new volunteers aged 18-30 from Northern Ireland and Wales to join its Youth Advisory Panel. 

The panel are Spirit of 2012’s key ambassadors. They visit and report on Spirit-funded projects that promote opportunities across sport, education, community, volunteering, culture and the arts. They attend regular meetings and access training and mentoring across two years. The panel will soon decide what projects it wants to benefit from a £100K funding opportunity.

Spirit of 2012 is partnering up with Team Personal Best to support the London 2017 inspiration Volunteer programme. England Athletics will receive £900,000 over the next three years. The funding was awarded in response to research commissioned by Spirit of 2012 and conducted by England Athletics and is for the purpose increasing the number, diversity and skills of athletics volunteers, improve their experience and give as many people as possible the opportunity to participate in athletics.
